Our chosen song
We chose this song because the balance with the pro's and con's the pro's seem to be greater than the other chocies.
Also when thinking about what be could do in our video the ideas seemed to be more creative and imaginative than the other choices, in which we where limited to how creative and imaginative we can be in those songs mainly becuse the genre of the song and what we would need to do to connote the genre.
Where we will be less concious when making the video because there is no music video to go with the song.
Lyrics
Mister Postman, look and see
(Oh yeah)
If there's a letter in your bag for me
(Please, Please Mister Postman)

The analysis of Dubstep songs
Benga and Coki - Night
According to Goodwin's theory the music video is a concept based video and could be said to be a narrative video too, but however the music video contradicts the song title 'Night'. where there are also no lyrics. Where all parts of the video is set at day time with bright colours of red and blue, this is still though linked to dupstep target audience in a way. Where the daytime setting and the fast on screen movement of feet and fast cutting rhythm can portray thoughts of having fun, in which teenagers and young adults like to go out clubbing at night where this is a place where people have fun too. There are also no lyrics for the music video expressing some more that it is a concept video.
As well as this, the rhythm, beat and editing of the song does coincide with one another and connate the mood of the music video suggesting there is a happy atmosphere with the use of a visual close up of bear feet, walking in the centre of the screen expressing the joyful atmosphere, where generally people do not walk outside in bear feet even if they are very happy so for this character to be walking in bear feet outside, he must be extremely happy.
Also looking at Goodwin's theory because the artist is typicailly in Dupstep music genre are their own producer so there isn't a demand for a record label, so close ups are not needed but nevertheless close ups are used frequently within the fast cutting tracking shot between two different ideas, a car and bear feet to enable the viewiers to get closer to the mood and to feel the atmosphere and happiness themselves. Use of colours also is significant to portray this.
Where this music video also has no intertextual references or voyeuristic reference because it is a oringinal tune and the artist is not looking for a record labal to sale them as an artist.
Magnetic Man- I need air
According to Goodwin's theory this song has no dance routine but is a light hearted performance video in terms of the dancers having the freeness to dance how they want this is expressed by the free moving of the hands waving, as well as this it has a slight narrative story in it. Also it has a long introduction which typifies the Dupstep music genre in which they typically have a long introduction.
The lyrics and visuals are amplified, this is conveyed by the video being set in a packed club where people are gasping for air in which a close up was used to expressed the importance of 'I need air' which also is the song title. Another example is when people are waving their hands in tune with the lyric 'everything you do makes me flow, flow, flow' which expresses the strong link between the lyrics and visuals but as well as this smooth flowing of the rhythm and visuals throughout the song. As well as this, editing is smooth in which there is a cut only after each lyric, the majority of the time.

The music and visuals are also illustrative because when the beat and the cutting rhythm is at a fast pace the on screen movement is fast and when is slows down the cutting rhythm and beat slows down but however the amount of flashing going on makes it seem like it is a transition in the editing being helped also by the darkness.
Again for this music video the artist is its own producer which again followers the trend because the majority of Dubstep artist are there own producer so they tend to do close ups on portraying the lyrics of the song rather than trying to demand for a record label and placing close ups of them in their video.
This is a concept music video where the music video amplifies the lyrics to an extent. In this video flies are used to express the lyrics, 'some days i feel trapped' in which this lyric portrays flies as feeling trapped in terms of humans wanting to kill them, as well as this, the lyric also indicates how humans are feeling trapped in terms of being grounded including having no phone the felling being that the lyrics are aimed at teenagers where this is the most common age group to get grounded, in which when this song came out Skream was also a teenager. 'lines been tapped' also conveys this because it is in the context of phone lines in which on screen, lines are shown and flies tapping the lines.

Again typically the artist is not in the music video expressing there is not a demand for a record label because there are no close ups of him in the video only close ups on the concept visuals in which he is expressing the lyrics.
This music video also has a typical Dupstep introduction where only the beat is playing on with the visuals but although this introduction is much shorter than the introduction in the song 'I need air'. This is mainly because the the 'I need air' song is a party tune where the introduction allows the people in the club get ready to dance and feel the anticpation of the lyrics dropping unlike this song where it is not a party song so there is no need to have as long of an introduction.
In addition to this, the music and lyrics are ampilified where most parts of the video are clear for example the tapping of the lines from the flies, but there are also small parts of the song being contradicted, 'sometimes i think back' but the visuals are moving forward however, this can be amplified by the visuals being in black and white connoting that it is in the past and it's history. This also signified by the editing where there are not much cuts but however though connote that it is in the past the on screen image shifts in way for a different image suggesting that the shift in image links to the continuality on in time because there is no cut just a shift in image which also allows the viewers to to engage with the video more. (get clip)
There are also no voyeuristics within this video where the artist, Skream concerntrates on conveying the lyrics with a metaphoric concept music video with the use of flies to convey phones lines being tapped and people trapped in which flies also feel like because humans tend to kill flies by tapping them, this expressing the song title or by sparying them where they are in a trapped location. This video has no intertxaul references.

This is according to Goodwin's theory.
Deadmau5 ftRob Swire- Ghost N stuff
Going by Goodwin's theory this video is a concept and narrative music video although the narrative is not clear. The concept is expressed with the use of masks and the ghost costume. However though it is slightly a performance video because the artist is under the ghost costume performing to the music, however the performance does not coincide with the lyrics and rhythm of the song the majority of the time.
This song has a typical long dupstep introduction where only the beat of the song is played so the concentration is more on the narrative when watching the video but when at a nightclub where this is a party song, its when people get ready to dance to the song for when the lyrics drop.
Also the editting has a smooth cuts but however the cuts do not have a real significance to the beat of the song and only at times have a link to the on screen image movement. (get clip 1.23mins)

Cragga Mr. Postman Dupstep
This song has no music video so therefore has no voyeuristic references and no demand for a record label becuse the artist is are their own producer according to Goodwin's theory. However because there is a original to this song by The Marvelettes it can be argued that he is trying to demand for a record label by remixing a old but popular song. Also because there is no music video so therefore there is no editing.

There are no relation between visuals and lyrics because there are no visuals but the on screen image of alot of colours mixed together can be linked to song to express that there's so much going on in the song, with the lyrics beat and rhythm and instruments (get clip) being played which are also being blended together to make this song.
The lyrics and rhythm have a strong relation where when the lyrics are fast the rhythm and beat are fast at the same pace aswell as when the the lyrics are slow the ryhthm and beat are slower. For example when the repeative lyric 'wait' is said it starts being said slowly with the beat and rhythm coinciding with it and then the begins word begins to be said faster and then the beat and rhythm gets faster.

The Pro's and Cons of our chosen selection
Pro's
- Good rhythm and beat to the song.
Con's
- Resrictive to how creative we can be becase it is mainly a narrative type of song.
- Lip syncing would be hard
- Finding locations to which to connote this genre of music of RnB would be very hard especially with the nature of RnB songs being set in a rich fashionable locations in America.
- Producing a music video to the simular standards to this video would be hard and make us self concious to what we would do in our music video.
Pro's
- Aimed at our age group so we could benefit from that because we would have ome insight to what allows them to enjoy a music video.
- We could make a new updated version of the song in terms of the groups appearance which we would make them to be a more modern day appearance.
Con's
- Lip syncing would be hard especially getting the five members in the group singing at the same time towards the actual video.
-Getting a good dance routine together would be hard
- Its an old song so the same age range which were the target audience when it came out to the this modern age range needs to make a good music video is different which we feel the this modern range of 16-24 would not like this type of music.
- Suitable locations to match the genre of the music.
Pro's
- No music video to the song which benefits us because we wont be self concious on comparing it to an orinigal video.
- Enables use to be as creative as possible because there is no music video.
- Not alot of lyrics to lip sync so lip syncing should be easier.
Con's
- Song mainly concentraies on one topic that being about a postman so it limits us abit to what the storyline will be.
